Aron Sousa, M.D., is dean of MSU College of Human Medicine, a position he has held, including stints as interim dean, for six of the past nine years.
Aron Sousa, M.D. FACP, is serving a six-month term as executive dean in the Office of the Provost. He will be working in tandem with Norm Hubbard, senior vice president for health sciences.
Sousa comes to this role with a long history of leadership in medical education and developing academic programs with community partners. His work includes creating and expanding academic campuses in rural and urban communities has been principal investigator on more than $37 million in grants. He has been Dean the College of Human Medicine since May of 2022, where he also served for nearly four years of as Interim Dean. He will continue as Dean of the college during and after his term as Executive Dean.
Sousa received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He then served as a resident and chief resident in internal medicine and completed a primary care fellowship at Michigan State University.
