Health Alliance Plan (HAP)

Health Alliance Plan (HAP) and MSU Health Care joined forces this past fall to educate Medicare-eligible individuals about HMO and PPO insurance products as an early outcome of the Henry Ford Health System partnership with Michigan State University. Headquartered in Detroit, HAP has been providing health coverage to individuals and companies of all sizes for 65 years. MSU Health Care and HAP are building upon the success of their education initiative with planning sessions and discussion around the next steps and needs for an MSU Health Care branded Medicare Advantage program for the Medicare open enrollment period this fall.

Assure Care Everyday

Through a purposeful partnership with Assure Care Everyday, MSU Health Care is making Remote Patient Monitoring a viable option for residents throughout Michigan to access "equitable, high-quality, affordable, and safe health care." The concierge care management program’s goal is to offer more comprehensive care to patients, reduce the cost of care, reduce unnecessary emergency visits and increase overall access to care.

Care Everyday empowers MSU Health Care clinicians to help keep patients with chronic conditions as healthy as possible. Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) is a program that extends the MSU Health Care clinical team by monitoring patients with chronic conditions outside traditional health care settings using remote medical devices such as Blood Pressure Cuffs, Glucose Meters, and Weight Scales.  Patient data is automatically transmitted to their personal care manager on a daily basis for monitoring. RPM provides patients with the tools they need—medication accountability, regular care management, and custom medication-specific education—to reduce medication non-adherence and promote positive behavior change.

Spartan Imaging

McLaren Greater Lansing and MSU Health Care have partnered on a new state-of-the-art Breast Imaging Center to bring a comprehensive approach to diagnosing breast cancer and streamlining treatment pathways, all in a comforting environment for patients.

The new Breast Imaging Center, opened in February 2022, combined the locations of McLaren’s Breast Care Center and MSU Health Care's Women’s Imaging Center into one convenient location. Features of the center include:

  • Four 2D/3D mammography systems
  • Bone density testing
  • Ultrasound units with elastography for breast exams
  • Two breast biopsy systems, one prone and one upright
  • Private changing rooms and lockers

Spartan Radiology

MSU Health Care and Advanced Radiology Services, P.C., formed a joint venture to provide exclusive reading services to McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital to foster high-quality, cost-efficient clinical services and increase research opportunities. Each year, the joint venture sets aside funds to support research and radiology-related education.

Through great synergy we have developed a world-class radiology department at MSU that excels in clinical, educational and research efforts all focused upon improving the health of the patients we serve through this partnership.

In August 2018, the MSU Board of Trustees approved creating MSU Health Care to replace the MSU HealthTeam. As a separate nonprofit organization, MSU Health Care can form joint ventures with a broader set of other health care entities. It partners with health systems throughout Michigan. Spartan Radiology is the inaugural joint venture of the 501(c)(3) corporation.

Key Partnerships and Affiliations

McLaren Greater Lansing

McLaren Greater Lansing and MSU Health Care share a rich history of collaborating to care for the surrounding communities at the clinical level. MSU Health Care provides medical oncology, imaging services, and psychiatry care for seniors at the new McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital alongside the gynecologic oncology, vascular surgery, urology, and podiatry services we have historically provided. MSU Health Care also provides physicians and psychiatry expertise in the Geropsychiatric Evaluation and Management Service unit. This allows the unit to care for more patients afflicted with memory disorders and conditions, enhance the specialized care provided, and improve teaching and learning opportunities to train the next generation of physicians focused on addressing the mental health crisis. Back in December 2021, MSU Health Care and McLaren Greater Lansing broke ground on the Medical Services building that will be located on the McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital campus. The center includes a full suite of imaging capabilities. The Medical Services Building is slated to open in Summer 2023.

Karmanos Cancer Institute

MSU Health Care partners with McLaren Greater Lansing and Karmanos Cancer Institute to bring cancer care to Mid-Michigan. The partnership helps recruit top clinicians to the region, provide outstanding patient care, and access new life-changing therapies and treatments. The Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Greater Lansing is home to the Breast Imaging Center, offering services such as screenings, biopsies, and surgical and reconstructive services; and a dedicated immediate care facility for cancer patients to receive care by oncology-trained nurses and physicians in a setting specifically created to accommodate those with compromised immune systems. The Cancer Center also includes larger exam rooms to support a multidisciplinary approach to care ‑ where a patient can meet with multiple physicians at one time ‑ and flexible infusion areas to offer patients the choice of community or privacy when receiving treatments. The former MSU Health Care Women’s Imaging Center is now housed in the Breast Imaging Center.
